Charles and Marie

11 11 2008

It’s still a few weeks until the Holiday season, but I thought I’d make an early shopping recommendation. Charles & Marie bill themselves as The Quintessential Lifestyle Navigator.

Their idea is curated shopping, which simply means they aggregate cool or tasteful things, and sell them – basically an online boutique. Some of the items are somewhat “High Concept” and silly, while others remind me of Hammacher & Schlemmer, but they do have a few items that make good presents for the hipsters in your little black book that already have everything.

A selection:

Gorgeous Helen candle shades. We bought these a few months ago, and they’re fun to put out on the table when you have dinner guests. It’s just rolled-up papers (cut to shape, with a few squiggles) that you put over a wine glass with a small candle in it.

The S – XL Cake Mold. Brilliant idea actually. An easy way to customize serving sizes for those hosts who refuse to understand what guests mean when they say “just a small piece for me, please.”

Anyway, check them out. They have some lovely things that are only available for one day, and some stylish stuff in highly limited editions. My new favorites are the up-coming Concrete Cocktail Tumblers.
